The race for the 2011 SRS Crown Championship is underway as the first SRS Club event of the new season - the All Women's Open presented by Sutter Bay Retrievers to benefit Women's Breast Cancer Research - was held on July 9 - 11 in Scio, Oregon. Gary and Sherie Zellner hosted the event on their property and showed wonderful hospitality for all the competitors and their families. There was a lot of fun and a lot of laughs and when the final scores came in, Webster (SRS The Blueprint) handled by Marion Carey finished on top and won the first "golden ticket" to the 2011 SRS Crown Championship.

Webster and Carey took the lead early in the event with a first series score of 21 that was just enough to edge out the second-place team of Ranger and Chelsea Riggs who scored a 26. Ranger and Riggs stumbled in the second series with a score if 83 while Webster and Carey kept up their blistering pace with a second series score of 11. The third series saw a resurgence Ranger and Riggs score just 9 faults but once again were bested by Webster and Carey's score of 2. Ranger and Riggs finally broke Webster and Carey's stranglehold on the event in the fourth series racking up just 2 faults but their deficit was too great to overcome as Webster and Carey took home the win with a stunning four series combined score of just 51.

Carey, who received over $1200.00 in cash and prizes, is normally quiet and reserved; but after the fourth series, the entire group felt her excitement and even though the SRS game was a new challenge to them, they each gave it a huge thumbs up.

"The word is out about the Ladies' SRS," said Tellus Calhoun, the organizer of the event. "Everyone had a great time and are they looking for the next one. I think we will see another SRS Club event out West really soon."
